An American Patriot missile while engaging an Iranian drone, deviated from its course and fell on residential buildings in Manama, the capital of Bahrain, according to Turkish television channel TRT Haber.

"In Manama, the capital of Bahrain, a Patriot air defense missile fell into a residential area due to a malfunction," the article says.

A video circulating online shows the missile rising from behind a group of buildings and following an arc to crash later into another set of building.

Eyewitnesses on mobile phones also captured the missile's flight and its sudden impact on residential buildings on camera. During the intense barrage, a U.S. Patriot interceptor reportedly malfunctioned and crashed into a residential area, causing damage and panic among civilians,” an eyewitness posted on X.

U.S. CENTCOM denies, claims it was an Iranian drone

The U.S. Central Command claimed “an Iranian drone struck a residential neighborhood, injuring 32 civilians in Bahrain, including children who required medical treatment,” citing the Bahraini government.

The U.S. CentCom rejected claims by Russian and Iranian state media that a US Patriot missile accidentally struck a neighborhood in Bahrain while attempting to intercept an incoming threat.

“Russian and Iranian media claimed earlier today that a U.S. Patriot missile missed … and inadvertently hit a neighborhood in Bahrain. LIE,” CENTCOM said in a post on X.
