Iran’s military said it carried out a drone strike on an Israeli oil refinery in Haifa, describing the attack as a response to earlier strikes on Iran’s oil infrastructure.

Iranian state media outlet Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) reported that the Iranian Air Force used drones to target an oil and gas refinery and fuel storage facilities belonging to Israel in Haifa. The report said the operation was conducted in response to attacks on Iranian oil storage sites.

“The Iranian Air Force, in response to the attack on Iran's oil storage facilities, used drones to attack an oil and gas refinery and fuel storage facilities belonging to the Zionist regime in Haifa,” the broadcaster quoted Iranian military officials as saying.

The Iranian military added that the strikes were conducted in the past few hours.

On Sunday, residents in Tehran reported heavy smoke and “black rain” after Israeli strikes targeted reportedly 30 oil depots in the Iranian capital. Fires at fuel storage facilities released large amounts of toxic smoke, which mixed with rain clouds and produced oily, dark precipitation that coated buildings and vehicles.

People reported headaches, breathing difficulties, and eye irritation as smoke spread across the city. The Iranian Red Crescent Society warned that rainfall after the strikes could be highly acidic and dangerous due to pollutants released from burning oil facilities. Authorities advised residents to stay indoors, keep windows closed, and use protective masks if they needed to go outside.
