Indonesia held an acceptance ceremony for a multi-platform strategic main weapon system at the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, Jakarta today with Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin and President Prabowo Subianto gracing the occasion.
The multi-platform equipment includes six Rafale fighter jets, four Falcon 8X aircraft, one A400M transport aircraft, and one GM403 Ground Controlled Interception (GCI) Radar besides the Meteor missile and AASM HAMMER weapons systems.
The series of events began with the inauguration procession of the Rafale fighter jet by removing the curtain of the Air Squadron 12 logo and sprinkling traditional flower water by the President of the Republic of Indonesia.
The event continued with the symbolic handover of the aircraft key from the President of the Republic of Indonesia to the TNI Commander, who then passed it on to the Chief of Staff of the Air Force.
This multi-platform deployment is designed to build an integrated and adaptive air force. The Rafale aircraft enhances tactical air-to-air and air-to-ground combat capabilities, the A400M extends the reach of logistics and aerial refueling, while the GM403 GCI Radar serves as an early detection system to direct fighter aircraft to maintain national airspace sovereignty.
This integration is considered crucial in responding to increasingly complex regional defense threats.
After reviewing the readiness of the cockpit and weapons systems, the Indonesian President emphasized that this step is part of a long-term strategy to strengthen defense as a deterrent. "We must continue to improve our defense strength as a deterrent. We have no interest other than protecting our own territory," the President said.
