Israel Awards Developers of Weapons Systems, Spying Tech, Electronic Warfare

The Israeli President yesterday presented this year’s security awards- unique products and systems that helped the Israeli Defence Force (IDF) to stay ahead of Iran and adversaries in Gaza and Lebanon during recent conflicts.

While not giving details that could possibly identify the products and systems, an Israeli Ministry of Defense release provided a brief description of the awarded systems:

Unique weapon used against Iran

A unique weapons system that was operated on the battlefield, made a significant and unique strategic contribution to the country's security. The system was a central part of the campaign against Iran. The award will be presented to the IDF Air Force, the Ministry of Defense, and Rafael.

Classified operational system by Mossad

A classified operational system that allows for a significant expansion of the Mossad's collection and operational capabilities across a wide range of missions. The project embodies technological innovation and groundbreaking and extraordinary operational daring. The award will be presented to the Mossad for Special Operations, the Aerospace Industry, and the IDF Air Force.

Ofek 13 and Ofek 19 satellites program

The  development of the "Ofek 13" and "Ofek 19" satellites program, which enable the defense system to receive high-quality and reliable intelligence at any point in time. The Ofek satellites constitute a breakthrough both in terms of performance and in terms of volume and weight. The award will be presented to the Missile and Space Systems Division and the Elta Division of the Israel Aerospace Industries, to the Space Directorate and the R&D Unit at the Ministry of Defense's Space and Defense Research and Development Center, and to Unit 9900 in the IDF Intelligence Division.

Solving a unique operational problem of the IDF

Technological development by Unit 81 in the IDF Intelligence Division for a unique operational problem. The project presents complex, innovative and precise solutions to a focused problem that has occupied the defense establishment for a long time. The award will be given to the MMM Division, Unit 8200 and the Research Division in the IDF Intelligence Division and to the Aerospace Industry.

Global breakthrough in electronic warfare

Development of electronic warfare systems to maintain the air superiority of the Air Force. The project combines a number of innovative and unique technological developments and constitutes a global breakthrough that provides the State of Israel with powerful capabilities in all combat sectors. The systems have been proven on the battlefield and were one of the key factors in preventing the interception of manned aircraft. The award will be presented to the Ministry of Defense's Anti-Aircraft Defense Division, the Special Operations Institute, the IDF Air Force, Elbit Systems' Elishra, Rafael, and Unit 8200 in the IDF Intelligence Division.
