A Ukrainian funding agency has purchased some 300 ‘Atlas’ micro-UAVs to help provide battlefield surveillance to the country’s armed forces.
The Come Back Alive Foundation, which works on providing aid to the Ukrainian military announced on Facebook it purchased 100 Atlas unmanned aerial systems (UAVs) from a Latvian company by the same name.
The 100 Atlas systems include 300 copters, as well as tablets and repeaters for them. These drones have a secure communication channel and carry a high-quality thermal imaging camera for surveillance at night. Atlas copters can be used for reconnaissance and artillery fire adjustment. The first systems are already working at the frontline providing aerial reconnaissance to the Ukrainian Special Operations Forces.
The Foundation’s team has previously purchased 10 PD-2 UAVs and 25 “Leleka-100” UAVs for the Ukrainian military.
