The Sultanate of Oman has awarded a new contract to Spain’s Indra Group to supply the Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO) with Lanza 3D long-range early warning radars.

The signing ceremony was attended by senior officials from both the Omani and Spanish Ministries of Defence, as well as Indra Group executives.

Under the new deal, Indra will design, supply and install its fixed-site Lanza 3D-LRR radars. The scope also includes radio voice communications systems and integration with the existing command and control systems already supplied by Indra. Additionally, the agreement aims to enhance RAFO’s capacity to conduct third-level maintenance of the radar systems.

This marks another phase in the development of Oman’s national air defence network. Indra completed its initial deployment of the Lanza radar-based system in the country in 2020.
