China Clones Turkey's Roketsan-made Robot Dog

China has displayed a missile-armed quadrupedal unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) that closely resembles Turkey’s KOZ robot dog developed by Roketsan.

The PF-070 system was spotted at the booth of a Chinese defense industry company during a defense exhibition in Saudi Arabia, according to Turkish defense outlet SavunmaSanayiST.com. “China has cloned Roketsan’s robot dog,” the outlet claimed, adding that a “lookalike” of the KOZ platform was seen carrying a missile similar in appearance to Roketsan’s METE mini-missile and assessing that China may soon be able to fully copy Roketsan’s design.

KOZ was unveiled at the IDEF 2025 defense exhibition in Turkey and was presented as a quadrupedal UGV armed with laser-guided mini-missiles. The system is designed to operate in urban environments and rugged terrain, with the ability to move across uneven surfaces and climb steep slopes while carrying a missile payload.

KOZ is equipped with four METE precision-guided mini-missiles and can conduct surveillance and strike missions under remote control or autonomous operation supported by artificial intelligence (AI). The platform is stated to have an operational endurance of up to 2.5 hours and is intended for missions such as border security, area clearing, and high-risk urban operations, with the aim of reducing direct exposure of personnel.

Neither Roketsan nor Chinese authorities have publicly commented on the reported resemblance between the two systems.
