Russia has unveiled an upgraded version of its Khrizantema-M anti-tank guided missile, featuring extended range and hypersonic speed.
Speaking to Russian news agency TASS, a spokesperson for High Precision Systems — part of the state technology corporation Rostec — said the modernized missile enables crews to operate at greater distances from enemy positions. “Firstly, the missile’s flight range has been extended, allowing the crew to stay out of the kill zone; secondly, it has hypersonic speed,” the spokesperson stated.
The upgraded missile is used on both ground-based anti-tank systems and helicopters, expanding its operational flexibility. It is currently being deployed in the special military operation zone in Ukraine.
Alongside the Izdeliye-305 missile, the enhanced Khrizantema-M gives helicopter crews a tactical advantage by allowing them to launch strikes without entering the engagement zone of enemy man-portable air defense systems (MANPADS), reducing risks to pilots and equipment.
The missile was first publicly presented at the Army 2023 International Military-Technical Forum, where Russian defense manufacturers showcased updated military technologies.
