China's new VU-T10 unmanned combat vehicle has completed tests and could be ready to enter Peoples’ Libertion Army (PLA) service.
Unveiled at the Zhuhai Air show exhibition in 2024, this versatile platform boasts modular multi-role capabilities capable of performing a reconnaissance, fire support, logistics, and engineering support missions.
It is equipped with a modular weapons system, the VU-T10 can be equipped with a 30mm automatic cannon, a 7.62mm machine gun. Besides it can also be equipped with Red Arrow 12 anti-tank guided missiles, allowing for rapid configuration adaptation to specific tactical needs, the China3Army Telegram channel reported on Monday.
The vehicle maintains reliable communications, navigation, and target recognition even in the face of severe electronic jamming, ensuring the continuity of combat missions in areas where traditional equipment becomes ineffective.
The VU-T10 can change its role on the fly: a scout, part of a strike unit, a transport vehicle for delivering ammunition or evacuating the wounded, as well as an engineering vehicle for minefield clearance.
This unmanned vehicle reflects China's progress in developing intelligent combat systems tailored to the demands of high-tech conflicts, where the combination of firepower, survivability, and digital resilience is becoming critical.
Although its manufacturer, Norinco did not provide details of its dimensions, a Jane’s estimate puts the platform at 3.8 meters in length, 2.4 meters in width, 2 meters in height, and weighs approximately 12 tons.
