U.A.E. Signs $1B Missile System Deal With Calidus

The United Arab Emirates has signed an AED 3.76 billion ($1 billion) deal with local defense company Calidus for a new missile system, the largest contract announced on the second day of the International Defense Exposition (IDEX) in Abu Dhabi.

The "Phase 1" agreement was revealed by the governmental Tawazun Council, though details such as the number of systems to be procured were not disclosed. As per local media, Calidus representatives at the event described the system as a ground-to-ground missile platform capable of being mounted on armored vehicles, including light infantry fighting vehicles. Tawazun displayed an image showing several missiles mounted on a heavy-duty truck.

At IDEX 2025, Calidus showcased multiple armored vehicles at its outdoor pavilion, including a model featuring an "ALHEDA" mounted missile pod. The company also unveiled an 8×8 armored vehicle, which local media described as the first of its kind to be designed and produced in the region.

While IDEX focuses primarily on ground systems, Calidus is also known for its aircraft production. In November 2023, the U.A.E. Air Force became the first customer for the company’s B250 trainer aircraft.
